Research Associate (PhD Candidate)
(Salary group 13 TV-L, working time 75%, limited for three years)
The department Computational Social Science (CSS) collects digital behavioral data and provides computer-based methods for collecting and analyzing such data for social science research. It also supports scientists with the integration of digital behavioral data into their research designs. The department's research focuses on the quality of digital behavioral data, the development and validation of computational social science methods and the transformation of digital societies.
The AutoFrontCCS project is part of the second funding period of the DFG priority program “META-REP: A meta-scientific program to analyse and optimise replicability in the behavioral, social, and cognitive sciences”. The aim of the project is to develop, implement and evaluate innovative solutions for improving the replicability (and reproducibility) of research in the field of Computational Communication Science (CCS). The project is led by Dr. Johannes Breuer together with Prof. Dr. Mario Haim (LMU Munich).
Your tasks will be:
- Conducting survey and experimental studies as well as qualitative evaluation studies
- Planning and implementing replication studies
- Creating training materials
- Writing and collaborating on scientific publications and presentations
- Working with the project partner, who is primarily responsible for developing and implementing tools
Your profile:
- University degree (M.Sc., Diploma) in communication science or a thematically related field
- Good knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Experience with a programming language used in Computational Communication Science (R and/or Python)
- Interest in meta.science & replicability
- Very good command of written and spoken English
- German language skills are desirable but not mandatory
